Submitted copies can stay with Mark 5 indefinitely. When you submit content under these terms, you keep your copyright and grant Mark 5 a continuing license to retain and use it, even if you later remove it, request removal or close your account.
Read the contribution license before submitting. Rights that cannot legally be waived remain protected.
1. Using Mark 5
Mark5, also called Mark Five or Mark 5 (“we”, “us”), provides personal faith stories, articles, resources and tools for exploring and sharing experiences. These terms apply to our website, preview program, accounts and contribution features. Please read them before using the service. If you do not agree, do not use these features or submit content.
The Privacy Policy describes how personal information is handled. A separate agreement expressly made with you controls where it specifically changes these terms. You must be legally able to give the permissions required for a feature. If you cannot agree on your own, involve a parent or legal guardian and contact us before providing personal information or content.
2. Accounts and organizations
Provide accurate account and contact information, keep it current and protect your passwords, passkeys, recovery details and invitation links. Do not impersonate another person or share access intended for you alone. Tell us promptly about suspected unauthorized use.
Some features require verified accounts, preview approval or organization roles. An account or invitation does not guarantee access to every feature. If you act for an organization or submit someone else’s recording, you must have authority to do so, including authority to grant the license below on behalf of all relevant rights holders.
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect accounts, investigate misuse, enforce these terms or comply with law. You can stop using the service and request account closure through Contact Us. Closure does not terminate a license already granted for submitted content.
3. Responsible use
- Respect other people’s rights, privacy and safety. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, threatening or harassing material or disclose private information without permission.
- Do not impersonate contributors, knowingly misrepresent someone’s experience, or fabricate a personal testimony presented as real.
- Do not bypass access controls, interfere with accounts, distribute malware, spam the service, manipulate reactions or polls, or send automated requests that disrupt the site.
- Do not collect other people’s personal information for harassment, unsolicited marketing or another unlawful purpose.
Report a concern through our contact form and include the relevant page or story link.
4. Your contributions and our continuing license
You retain ownership of the copyright you hold. These terms grant permission to use submitted material; they do not assign your copyright to Mark 5.
When you deliberately submit a video, recording, photograph, article, script, description or other contribution for review or publication and accept these terms, you grant Mark 5 a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, fully paid-up, perpetual and irrevocable license, to the fullest extent permitted by law, to retain all submitted copies indefinitely and to use, reproduce, store, back up, archive, edit, adapt, excerpt, transcribe, translate, create derivative works from, publish, display, perform, communicate and distribute that material.
The license covers operating, developing, documenting and promoting Mark 5 and its storytelling, educational and ministry activities, in any media or format. It permits use on Mark 5, social channels, presentations and promotional materials, including in activities that generate revenue. Mark 5 may authorize its service providers and distribution partners to exercise these rights for those purposes and may transfer the license with a transfer of the Mark 5 service.
The license begins when your submission is successfully received and continues whether or not the material is accepted or published. It survives your deletion or removal of a submission, a request to remove it, removal from public display, withdrawal from the service, account closure and termination of these terms. These actions do not require Mark 5 to surrender or destroy its submitted copies or stop licensed uses, except where applicable law requires otherwise. No payment or royalty is owed unless we separately agree in writing.
You authorize use of the name, image, voice and biographical details included in your contribution as reasonably necessary for these purposes, subject to applicable privacy and personality rights. You consent to presentation edits and adaptations within the license. You must have the rights and participant permissions needed to grant it, including for music, images, footage and writing supplied by others. You cannot grant rights that belong to someone else without their authority.
This is not a waiver of rights that cannot lawfully be waived. Copyright permission does not override applicable privacy, erasure, consent-withdrawal, moral-rights or other mandatory protections. Personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
Unsubmitted private drafts and ordinary support messages are not publication contributions under this license. Earlier submissions remain subject to the permissions actually agreed at the time unless their rights holders expressly accept this license. You remain free to use and share your own material because the license is non-exclusive.
5. Editorial review, corrections and removal
Mark 5 selects material for publication. We may review, edit, request changes to, decline, restrict or remove content based on its fit with our purpose, accuracy, rights, privacy, safety or legal concerns. Submission or an organization’s approval does not guarantee publication.
Contact us with a story link and relevant text or timestamp to request a correction. For a rights complaint, identify the material, the right involved, your connection to it and how we can reply. Do not send unnecessary sensitive documents in your initial message.
You may request that material no longer appear publicly. We will consider the request, applicable law and any separate agreement. Removing public access does not itself revoke the continuing license in section 4. We cannot guarantee removal of search-engine caches or copies made by others.
6. Using site content
You may view content available to you and share links through the site’s features. Copyright and other rights belong to their respective owners. Public availability is not unrestricted permission to download, edit, republish, sell or use someone’s image or voice.
Obtain permission for reuse beyond site features or rights provided by law. Do not imply endorsement by a contributor or Mark 5 without authorization. A specific open license identified on a piece of content applies to that content only.
7. Personal experiences, tools and external resources
Stories express individual experiences. Articles, reflections, polls and AI suggestions support information and exploration; they do not replace qualified medical, mental-health, legal, financial or other professional advice or promise a particular outcome.
Transcripts and automated suggestions may contain mistakes. Check suggestions before using them and ensure your final contribution reflects your experience. External resources and services have their own terms and privacy practices; we do not control their content or availability, and a link is not endorsement of everything they publish.
8. Availability and responsibility
Features may change or be interrupted, particularly during preview. Keep your own copy of important material. Our permission to retain content does not promise permanent storage or availability to you.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided as available, without guarantees of uninterrupted access, fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy of every contribution. To that extent, Mark 5 is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service.
Nothing here excludes responsibilities or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights. You remain responsible for your unlawful conduct and permissions you represent you have; these terms do not remove our obligations under applicable law.
9. Changes and disputes
We will update the date when these terms change and give reasonable notice of material changes through the site or another appropriate channel. We will seek fresh agreement where required. Revised terms do not silently expand the rights granted for earlier submissions.
Please contact us first with a concern so we can try to resolve it. Applicable law determines your rights and the courts or other bodies available for a dispute. These terms do not impose compulsory arbitration or waive mandatory protections. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law.
